2016 is a big year for smart mobility in Australia as momentum builds towards the ITS World Congress in Melbourne this October. It was a full house this week at the ITS Australia summit on connected autonomy in smart cities. Mobility as a Service Australia was very pleased to be able to present to our industry colleagues our vision for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in Australia.
In this land of high car ownership and use, we took on the tough challenge of asking the audience to join us in believing that something really could provide better freedom of mobility than owning a car. Feedback from the audience was very positive, with some even noting that they pay far more each year for their car than the examples we were using and some requests for immediate access to MaaS. We would love to be able to offer that today, but don’t worry, we are working to make that happen!
There was once again strong interest in the MaaS Readiness Index and we look forward to sharing the assessment framework publicly with interested parties. This is a great tool for regions, cities and transport operators to see what they would need to do to get ready for MaaS and how they compare with others. If you want early access to this tool, please get in touch.
